I'm not sure where this is going, but it appears the records released by Time Magazine regarding the leaking of Valerie Plame's name contained information indicating that Karl Rove, Bush's advisor, was one of the people who "outed" her. This is, if I remember correctly, in the opinion of George H.W. Bush, a crime on the order of treason.

Slight update: seems Rove claims he circulated Plame's name after she was outed by R. Novak, but did so explicitly as a part of a strategy to discredit Wilson; he did this to retaliate against Wilson's having the audacity to spread truth about Bush's bullshit intelligence re: Iraq's nuclear program. What a reptile.

I don't think that's what is really being reported. What is being said is that the Time reporter spoke to Rove before the story came out. But he has testified before the grand jury several times and signed a release for the reporters to talk about any conversations they had with them. He has said that he did not reveal her name. I think the MSM would not have sat on a story actually proving Rove outed her (and the whole outing thing is apparently sham anyway as she wasn't a covert op anymore) BEFORE the 2004 election if it would have hurt Bush? The reporters would have been shouting it from the rooftops or found some way to get it to others who would reveal it. Especially the NY Times which is where one of the reporters works. We shall see.
